In Romania

On Sunday, October 19th a team from City on a Hill comprised of Shane, Kevin, Cassie, Richie, and Meghan (Kevin’s daughter) set out for Romania. They are scouting locations for what will be our very first feature film!
Why Romania, you ask? We anticipate gaining the amazing privilege of telling the story of Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, founders of the ministry – Voice of the Martyrs. Theirs is an unusual love story. As their love for God and each other grew and was strengthened in the midst of being persecuted and imprisoned by the Communist government that was taking root in Romania. Richard was locked away twice for a total of fourteen years, three of which were spent in solitary confinement.
Sabina was interned at a forced labor camp for three years and had to send their young son away to be taken care of by friends. While the City on a Hill crew is in Romania, they will be touring several of the locations where Richard and Sabina were imprisoned. Please pray for them as they travel through what were once the tortured footsteps of all those held captive by the Communist regime. Pray with us for their discernment as they analyze which locations will best tell the story of the Wurmbrands, as well as for their safe return to the U.S. on November 1st.
To gain a more in-depth knowledge of the Wurmbrands’ story the books “The Pastor’s Wife” (Sabina’s story) and “In God’s Underground” (Richard’s story) are excellent resources!
